Bold, obsessive, and unmistakably iconic. Don’t You Want Me captures Phil Oakey in full synthpop command. Rendered in stark monochrome with graphic precision, this portrait pulses with the emotional tension of one of the 80s’ most unforgettable duets. His gaze is intense, framed by bold typography and a cascade of fragmented lyrics that echo like a broken transmission: “Don’t you want me baby… don't you want me…”
The horizontal “THE HUMAN LEAGUE” band logo anchors the piece with retro authority, while the repeated lyric fragments swirl in the background like a memory you can’t shake. Pip’s tribute transforms pop melodrama into visual rhythm. A must have for fans of The Human League, 80s synth culture, and art that sings with style and sentiment.
Phil Oakey, The Human League - Don't You Want Me (Canvas Prints)
This print is reproduced from Pip's original hand painted acrylic artwork. It is brought to life on a premium canvas giclée print, designed to showcase every detail with rich depth and vibrant colours. The work is one of a series of 10 paintings from Wirral based artist Pip that form the ‘Eighties Synthpop’ collection.
Canvas prints are available in 4 sizes:
- Small 12" x 12" (30cm x 30cm)
- Medium 20" x 20" (50cm x 50cm)
- Large 28" x 28" (70cm x 70cm)
- Extra Large 40" x 40" (100cm x 100cm).
The artwork is printed on to a high quality poly-cotton blend canvas that is wrapped around a thick wooden pine frame that sits off the wall. The print image wraps around the sides of the frame so is perfect to hang straight on to the wall without framing.
Alternatively choose to add a black or white floater frame that create a striking 'floating' effect, giving the art an elegant, modern touch.
Please note that some of the images are provided for illustrative purposes to show how the canvas print is constructed. The actual shipped print will use the specific painting of the selected product ordered.
